Dave Kopke started Copper Island Contracting, Inc. in 2020 as a way to to return to the Copper Country. Dave is a life long carpenter having helped his parents completely remodel a 100 year old house north of Hancock during his childhood.
After graduating from Hancock Public Schools and Michigan Tech he worked as a Maintenance Engineer/Planner for a large paper mill in Minnesota, then as a Reliability Engineer and later Operations Manager for an oil pipeline company in Minnesota and Texas. Along they way Dave continued to hone his skills with various home remodels and repairs, furniture making, constructing a new garage and even repairing his home after flooding from Hurricane Harvey.
After several years of planning, Dave obtained his Michigan Residential Builders License at the beginning of 2020 and opened for business!
